A look back at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK movers and drivers throughout the years

So much has changed over the nearly 40 years TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has been a brand, from our location to the types of moving services we offer our customers.

Since starting out as a small business in Lansing, Michigan, as a way for brothers Brig and Jon Sorber to make a little spending money after school, we’ve grown to the first and largest franchised moving company in the United States with more than 400-plus locations covering 47 states, as well as having locations in Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Not bad for a one-time, two-man operation hauling people’s belongings around in an old pickup truck!

What hasn’t changed is the people who make up our brand – mainly, our movers and drivers. Without these hardworking individuals, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK would not be what it is today. While the way we do things has evolved, and so has our uniforms and trucksat the end of the day, it’s still dedicated, professionally trained movers providing high-end moving services.

With this in mind, we thought it would be fun to look back through the years and into the present at movers and drivers to give a quick time-lapse of how things have changed since the ‘80s.

I chose to enroll in the Managers Moving Forward Program after seeing a presentation at Annual Meeting. I saw some of the focus areas were weaknesses of mine, and I figured it would be beneficial to address those. The experience has been awesome, and all of the content has led to processes I can implement at my franchise to make it better. The thing that attracted me most to the job was just the team environment, I’ve grown up playing sports my whole life, so when I got there and met everyone, I saw the way they treated the guys, how all the guys were team-based like family, and that was just something that really attracted me and kept me here.
