You truly never know where a new job might take you or what challenges might arise when you switch roles, and nobody can speak to that more than Bijan Pishevar.
Pishevar first hired on with the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand as an operations manager for the Grand Rapids North, Michigan location in late 2019. As you might have heard, some interesting things happened not long after globally, and suddenly his learning environment was completely shifted.
“My experience joining TWO MEN AND A TRUCK was kind of crazy,” Pishevar said. “Sixty days after I joined, the pandemic hit. I had to learn fast and adapt to a new moving environment. I came from another moving franchise so I had a good idea of what I was walking into, but I found that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK was much more organized, professional, and experienced. The organization in particular made the experience more enjoyable for me because of my roots in the military.”
It would have been understandable for Pishevar to be thrown off by all of the change happening around him just a short time after he joined, but he made the most of it, and quickly began to make his mark within his franchise.
He quickly became general manager for the Grand Rapids North and Grand Rapids South, Michigan locations, Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah locations. His ability to understand the business, work on the fly, and display the leadership skills necessary to have a successful moving franchise were on display from the very start, and this allowed him to continue adding responsibility.
The last year accelerated things even further for Pishevar, and he was able to reach the highest level of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchise mountain when he was added to the franchise agreements for the Salt Lake City and Ogden locations, making him a first-time franchisee within the brand.
“When The Empire Group acquired Grand Rapids South, I volunteered to steer it in the right direction,” Pishevar said. “After a great first year with them, I was offered an ownership position with our Salt Lake City franchise and jumped at the opportunity. This February, we opened our Ogden franchise and we look forward to continuing to expand.”
It’s a major milestone for Pishevar and a deserving one. The journey from when he started has been full of twists and turns, but he’s embraced every second.
“It’s a been a fun ride,” Pishevar said. “I’ve always been a very self-motivated and autonomous person, so each increase in responsibility and impact has only made my day-to-day more enjoyable.”
For Pishevar, the ability to continue advancing his career has been a breeze due to his comfort with the company and his love for the brand, something that continues to drive him each day on the job.
“My favorite thing about working at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is the people,” Pishevar said. “I’m lucky enough to work with multiple people who have been with the brand for over 15 years. I couldn’t have gotten to where I am today without their wealth of knowledge. I’m also lucky to have had several people work under me who have jumped into operations manager and general manager positions. It’s people like that stepping forward that has allowed me to move forward as well.”
Now that Pishevar is on the franchisee agreements for the two locations in Utah, it’s business as usual for him as he works to help each of the locations continue growing in relatively new markets for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. Pishevar is a big fan of community work so it makes sense his favorite company core value is “Give Back to the Community”, which he supports with programs like Movers for Moms® and Toys for Tots.
He looks forward to continuing the growth within his new locations, but also moving how own team forward. He stated nothing makes him happier than seeing someone he has supervised move up within the company, and it’s one of the reasons he would recommend a job with the brand to anyone interested.
“The only ceiling for your professional growth is the one you give yourself,” Pishevar said. “Endless opportunities await, and I hope I can be a living testament to that.”
