Over the 40-plus years the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand has been in operation, there have been countless stories of people taking a franchise job and turning it into a full career.

One in three franchisees across our 430-plus locations started out as movers or drivers, as did 75 percent of the franchise managers in the system. There are growth opportunities everywhere, and nobody encapsulates that more than current TWO MEN AND A TRUCK President Randy Shacka.

Twenty-five years ago, Shacka was looking for a job after trying a few internships he didn’t enjoy. He came across an opportunity with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK as a marketing intern at their corporate office and quickly fell in love with the brand.

During that time, he was offered an opportunity to help open a franchise in Seminole County, Fla., and accepted, becoming the Operations Manager for that location.

This would set off a 25-year run that culminated in Shacka being named President of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK in 2012, which was significant, as he was the first non-founding family member to hold that title since the company’s inception.

I chose to enroll in the Managers Moving Forward Program after seeing a presentation at Annual Meeting. I saw some of the focus areas were weaknesses of mine, and I figured it would be beneficial to address those. The experience has been awesome, and all of the content has led to processes I can implement at my franchise to make it better. If you aren’t growing, you’re dying, and I’d prefer the former over the latter!
