What are skills you feel are necessary to be successful in this position?
“First and foremost, I think the position is going to require someone that can adapt on the fly and be able to relate to anyone. You never know what kind of house, apartment, or office building you’ll be walking into. For me, I try and find anything to build a relationship and comfort with that customer. I’ve been in this position since 2013 and I can honestly say if the customer likes you, they’ll buy from you.”
-Justin Swirth, Outside Sales Representative/Assistant Manager, Waukesha, Wisconsin
What are some of the best aspects of the job?
“For me, I love my job and our customers. Every day is something different, and that’s what keeps me going every day. I never know what I’m going to walk into, for me that’s the part I love! I walk into someone’s home or business and have to be able to build a rapport with them, to earn their trust before anything. Once that is done, booking becomes easy!”
-Justin Swirth, Outside Sales Representative/Assistant Manager, Waukesha, Wisconsin
How has COVID-19 impacted this position? How have you transitioned to virtual in-home consultations?
“As far as COVID-19, we are following CDC guidelines. I find some customers are much more concerned than others, yet they are all appreciative of the steps we are taking to ensure the safety.”
-Bill Richards, Sales Manager, Marietta, Georgia
“In regards to the virtual in-home consulting, it has been ok. Our customers prefer a personal walk through but in these times, we cannot. [We are] able to do more of them, however.”
-Kenny Jenkins, Moving Consultant, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Who would you recommend this type of job to?
“I would recommend this position to some who is ’ready to sell‘. They have to be ready for rejection, they have to be ready for failure. But they also have to be able to brush it off and move on the next one. Sales for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is typically easy, as you are selling a good product and service. Most of the time they call you, so half the battle is done. They have to be self-motivated and trust what they are selling no matter what.”
-Kenny Jenkins, Moving Consultant, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
