Assistant Operations Manager

Pay Range: $45,000 - $55,000

The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day franchise activities to meet established operational goals and standards. This is accomplished primarily through: supervising and motivating move crews; controlling employee costs; and ensuring move crews consistently exceed customer expectations.

The Assistant Operations Manager assists in ensuring the franchise is consistently operating in compliance with the franchise agreement, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system standard, and applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes and protects the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand.
  • Determines staffing requirements and assists with training.
  • Responsible for the direction and day-to-day supervision of the training coordinator, drivers and movers and meets regularly to discuss employee performance and training needs.
  • Assists with oversight of employee accountability and adherence to franchise and system standards and policies.
  • Assists with execution of employee development, coaching and corrective action programs.
  • Directs employee scheduling, truck assignments and dispatch of movers and drivers. Provide Saturday backup coverage when needed.
  • Collaborates with the operations manager to ensure efficiency of operations by minimizing overtime hours and ensure employee time punches are accurate.
  • Leads daily dispatch and monthly all-employee meetings.
  • Promote safety and uphold safety procedures and policies.
  • Ensures driver compliance with all DOT regulations and FMCSA guidelines.
  • Assists in addressing customer concerns, maintains timely communication with employees and customers, and recommends training/re-training for employees.
  • Utilizes MWC2 claims module for tracking damage claims, records notes and collaborate with the MSC Customer Care team to finalize claims in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Oversees the fleet maintenance and equipment inventory program.
  • Ensure all trucks have proper equipment and hold movers accountable to truck inventory and truck cleanliness.
  • Responsible for being an "on-call" emergency contact outside of normal business hours.
  • Participates in regular training and development programs offered through STICK MEN UNIVERSITY® to further the knowledge of the system.
  • Actively participate in industry, association, or community events.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of business, management, or other relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK or in the moving industry and/or franchise experience is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK system policies, procedures, and industry.
  • Must have a chauffeur's license with ability to drive moving trucks.
  • Must be trailer and mule trained.
  • Experienced public speaker; at ease moderating large groups.
  • Ability to coordinate own and others' actions, manage own time and manage personnel resources.
  • Proficient in oral and written comprehension and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to lead by example to motivate, develop and direct people.
  • Ability to assess the performance of self, employees, and franchise to make improvements or corrective action.
  • Strong decision-making ability.

  • Must be proficient with the following: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
